We'd like to welcome you as someone with an interest in co-operative and social enterprise in Rochdale Borough!

We think co-operatives and social enterprises are (to quote the Co-operative Group) 'good for everyone', including:
  • communities that want to take resonsibility for providing services to meet local needs
  • voluntary and community organisations wanting to adopt a business model to deliver services
  • groups of people wanting to work together as employees or share services as a consortium
  • people starting up in business, but wanting an alternative model that is based on ethical values
  • people wanting to work together to respond to new opportunities and challenges, such as environmental change or creating a fairer society for all.
The Forum provides a voice for co-operatives and social enterprises in the Borough. Our objectives can be summarised as:
  • raising the profile of co-operatives and social enterprises
  • encouraging networking, providing mutual support, training, and development oportunities
  • representing the sector's interests, campaigning, and working with others who share our values.
We have a number of intiatives underway, including:
  • developing commissioning and procurement opportunities with Rochdale Council
  • encouraging members to trade with each other and share services
  • campaigning for a community renewable energy co-operative.
